8 Reasons Why Christian Writers Should Write
Why should
Christian writers write? Isn’t the Bible enough?
From the
beginning of scripture, people recorded God’s word, experiences of God’s people
and their interpretation of certain events.
Today, the Bible is our manual for Christian living.

But the
world – its culture and norms – changes every day. This means that God’s word
should be interpreted in line with the world we live in and our unique
experiences.
That is achieved through preaching or writing.

As Christian
writers, there are several reasons why we should write. After a study of
Romans, I found these:
Because We Have The Love Of God
“Do you think anyone is going to be able to
drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us...

A long time
ago, God loved us. It didn’t matter that we were no longer like him; he wanted us to see his love
and decide for ourselves if we wanted it. So, he sent his Son to die for us and
redeem us.
We receive
lots of benefits from this love, once we accept it. Not only that, his love is
deposited in our heart and it grows.
We are now encased in his atmosphere of love. It’s inside us. It’s all around us. We’re basking in it and loving him too.

Love drives us to write for him when we could have walked other routes to
become more acceptable to others.
Love makes us sacrifice jobs, reject offices and some forms of employment to become Christian writers.

Because
we’re filled with agape – God’s kind of love, our love for him and our love for
others compels us to write.
This is why
nothing can drive a wedge between us and him. No ideology, no harassment, no
person, no spiritual being, no creature can stop us from writing for him.
Because we have the love of God.

As A Form Of Worship

As
Christians, we are dedicated to the Almighty God. (I’m assuming that you’ve
received Jesus as your Lord and Savior. If you’ve not, become a Christian today)
Once we receive salvation, we become priests. And we worship the Lord in various ways.
While we can worship him by lifting our hands and singing beautiful songs, we also worship him through our service.

In Romans
1:9, Paul said that he loved to worship and serve God by spreading the good
news of his Son.
The Greek word translated into worship and serve is latreuo. It means to minister, to render religious service or homage, to worship.

As writers we
are ministers.
We tell people how to live in the New Testament dispensation Jesus Christ brought. We spread his message abroad, and tell others about him and the wonderful things he’s done.
By doing this, we worship God through our service.

As Messengers Of God
“For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord

Let’s face
it; people aren't going to hear about Jesus if nobody talks about him.
People won't have the opportunity to discover how wonderful he is and how much easier he will make their lives, if there is nothing written about him.

Don't you think there would be a screwed up version of him in everybody’s mind if the Bible and other books were not written? But God put up a system to make sure that didn't happen.
He has given us everything we need to be writers.
Salvation
comes from belief and belief comes from hearing the word of God.
People hear the word in their minds as they read our books and articles, or they hear it physically from audio books, video messages and movies.

We bring his
word to them. We are God’s messengers sent to preach to everyone. Oh how
beautiful we are, because we preach the gospel of peace.
To Fulfill God's Will On Earth

Let me tell
you an important secret.
Being a Christian writer doesn’t only help others. It helps you first. You grow faster when you teach others.

When you
write that novel with the message or you write about God, you write from a
knowledge base of his word. So, your mind is constantly on him and being
renewed.
And by being a Christian writer, your default status is already #NonConformist to the world.

Not only
that, you’re proving and living in his perfect will.
First, let’s
look at what God’s will is for mankind. Then, we’ll look at the Greek
translation of “…that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and
perfect will of God”.
God has a
general will for people living in the world, and a specific will for
individuals. Here, I’m going to be dealing with his general will.
Jesus said in Mark 16:15 (NKJV), "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." Amplified says, "...publish openly the good news."

God's will
is for everyone to accept his salvation and to live in the full glory of his
life. He has given us the great responsibility to help others with this.
By writing, we're walking in his good and acceptable and perfect will.

The Greek

Euarestos is the word for acceptable. It means well pleasing and acceptable.
Teleios is the word for perfect. It means perfect, finished, brought to completion and maturity, full grown and of full age.

If we let the Holy Spirit guide us in our career; our writing will be more pleasing to God. It will grow and mature. This helps us walk in his will.
To Preach the Gospel

We write to
preach the gospel to others.
What is the gospel? It is about how God loved us so much that he sent his son Jesus to save us.

Jesus came
to the world, died and redeemed us from sin and its effects – poverty, disease,
sorrow, depression, etc.
Then he gave us Zoe, the God kind of life. So everyone who accepts him lives in supernatural health, wealth, divine wisdom, joy and victory forever.

We’ve
received this glorious life and we’re enjoying life at the top. But we aren't so selfish that we keep it to ourselves.
See – with
the life of Christ, everyone can be at the top.
We want to
give others the opportunity to do so. We want them to believe with their hearts
that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead, and confess salvation with their mouths.
We want them to live the best lives ever. That’s why we write in the Christian niche.

To Spread Faith
“…(that is, the word of faith which we
preach)… So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.”

Writing about
our life and what God is doing in it gives other Christians the strength to go
on. It also makes non-Christians know about this God that we know.
Writing
God’s word, his revelations to us and the testimonies we have as a result of
doing what he says, produces faith in people. It shows them that God is
real.
By reading our writing, people develop the consciousness of who they are in Christ Jesus or who they can be.

To Showcase Grace
“That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so
might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our

The Greek
word translated to grace is charis. It means that which affords joy, pleasure, delight,
sweetness, charm, and loveliness.
Writing
about God brings more grace into your life. When you write more about him and
grow in his anointing, a special kind of loveliness is transferred from your
spirit into your physical life and environment.
Life becomes more pleasurable because you’ve increased in grace.

Such things
cannot be hidden. People are going to notice you. And before long they’ll
emulate you and enjoy the same grace.
To Guide Christians

Christian
writing increases our knowledge of God. We write by the Spirit and come to
the fullness of his knowledge.
Then we teach, we warn, we advise and guide other Christians.

Being a
Christian writer is a privilege.
When we do it with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the glory within us shines so bright. The right kind of people are attracted to us. And we dispense God’s goodness and gospel around the world.
